White Gold Gilt Dial The reference 1601 in white gold is probably one of the most understated watches from the Rolex line-up. Only those who know, know. It is not only a very understated but also incredibly rare watch considering that most 1601s were made in stainless steel, a fair number in yellow gold and only a small number of pieces were manufactured in white and pink gold. We have here an astonishing example of a white gold 1601 dating back to 1967. The case is sharp and retained in excellent condition showing only light wear from age considering it is more or less 57-years old. The fluted white gold bezel is equally well preserved. The 18K white gold case is housing an incredible rare and beautiful Gilt dial which even after such a long time is still retaining its full gloss. Gilt dial means that the print indeed is in gold color and is printed under the top layer of the dial which is the glossy lacquer. The dial features Baton indexes and Door Stop indexes at 6 and 9. The lume plots have aged to a nice pumpkin brown colour and are matching the lume on the rare sword hands. With the growing demand on vintage Day Dates the quest for rare precious metal Datejusts has gone up too and we think this is a pretty rare bird.
